Supportive Care

The Kaleidoscope Grief Center Supportive Care program offers psychosocial and emotional support to a critically ill child and their family in home, hospital, or hospice.

Objectives:

1. Offer emotional support to the family in crisis as they cope with the impact of a child's life-threatening illness.

2. Assist the child and family in adjusting to the illness and resuming a sense of normalcy in their life. Appropriate referrals are made based on the emotional need of the family for support, not on the child's prognosis.

3. Examples of children eligible for services may include:

• Newly diagnosed child with leukemia or cancer.

• Children awaiting transplants.

• Children diagnosed with other life-threatening illnesses.
